Documentary Photographer:


Documentary photography is a popular form of photography that's used to take pictures of chronicle significant or historical events.

Some skills you need to become a documentary photographer are discipline & organization. Organization is very important because you'll be keeping a photo journal and it needs to be neat. You also have to be able to adjust, you'll be put in different conditions and you'll also have to stop using color for photos. Documentary photography is usually always black and white.

To be a documentary photographer at entry level you have to have at least a bachelor's degree. At this stage you can become at an intern and many photography companies. 


The starting salary for a documentary photographers are 27,600 to 75,000+


Some private/public settings that provide employment are:
public: schools, natural disasters, different countries, etc. 
private: nursing homes, wars,  funerals, etc.                               


I couldn't find jobs that can you could do in high school or college to develop the skills you need, but I have an idea. You need a job that will make you organized so many a library or something that you have to be very organized. Also a job that makes you adjust to things, so maybe a job that you have to get up really early for! The last skill is discipline, so a job that has lots of rules to follow by would be best.

Presentations:


Production artist: Assist the designer to make labels for products. Salary $50,000 to $70,000 a year. First step to a graphic design field. Supports the designers! Usually a job in big companies. You need to be in an associates program or have an associates degree.


Graphic Designer: A way of visual communication. Creates a visual for the client/audience. Skills= knowing design software, creative mind, able to communicate. Must have a bachelor's degree, art classes, & speaks a foreign language. Entry level salary is $26,00 or less.


Art Director: Comes up with visual concepts for billboards, magazine layouts, videos, websites, and sometimes newspapers. Focuses with communication media. Next step after graphic designer. Involved with the client, presentation. Helps peers with projects. You need four year bachelor's degree, several years of work in related fields, degrees in visual communication & media. Junior salary $25,00 to $55,000 senior salary $35,00 to $120,000. 


Illustrator: Create technical and nontechnical drawing for printed materials, commercial products a digital media! Design for textbook-printed materials, greeting cards, calendars, wrapping paper, etc. Degree in illustration or related fields. Artistic, technical, and social skills are important. $30,00 to $50,00 and possibly up to $80,00. Disney and Marvel comics use illustrators. 


Web Designer: Responsible for creating the look of a website for the client. Requires a bachelor's degree in a graphic field. $45,000 to $81,000.


Package Designer: Designes packages...like containers. Bachelor's degree in industrial design or a similar field. Salary $33,000 to $75,000. 


Documentary Photographer: A popular form of photography that's used to capture historical events. Some skills you need are: Discipline, organization (photo journal), and being able to adjust (black and white images & conditions of places you go). For entry level you need at least a bachelor's degree. The salary is $28,00 to $75,000 it depends on the company and the photos you take. 


Comic book Artist: No degree's you just have to be talented and be able to draw details backgrounds a buildings and figures in actions. Starting $12,000 and goes up to $50,000.


Computer Animatior: Use 2d photographics. Need to be artistic and have computer skills. Draw storyboards and create models of environments. $32,000 to $99,000. Must be good with software. Education you need a bachelor's degree and experience. 


Publication Designer: Works with magazines. Design the layout and content that's inside a magazine. Need to have a bachelor's degree in any graphic design field. Need to be educated in typography, color schemes. Starting $23,000 and maximum $85,000. 


Free Lance Designer: An artist that works without a dedication for one long term employer. Not a certain degree, but recommended you have a high school to college degree. Salary $57,000! Normally you're on your own, not with a company. A lot of free lancers get paid per hour. 


Storyboard Artist: Education: bachelor's degree, should take background classes in drawing. Salary: starting $25,000 work up to $80,000. Work in studios or offices! Creative Director: next level above art director. More of the manger of the department. They don't design. Meets with clients, designs pitches, help you with critiquing with the art director. Skills, degree within the filed, probably with graphic design. Need a lot of experience (7-10 years)! Makes around $100,000 to $150,000. Starting would be like $70,000 to $80,000.


AIGA: American Institute of Graphic Arts! They represent designers. For example, help student members publish their portfolios, help them get jobs, internships. 


PIAG: Printing and Imaging Association of Georgia! The voice of Georgia's printing industry. Push a lot for our curriculum. Like AIGA, there to support designers!


SPD: Society of Publication Designers! It was established in 1965. Represent art directors and others. Concentrate  visual concerns. Put your work online and you'll be exposed to colleges.


Copy Writer: write copies for the purpose of. Works with a team of art directors and sometimes with clients. Salary around $37,000 the top is $70,000. After they're promoted they are called creative director. 


Portrait Photographer: Take pictures of an individual or groups at a studio or on location. Would help to get a degree, but not required all you need is basic knowledge. Salary $26,000 to $63,000.


Advertising Photographer: Also know as commercial photographer.  They take pictures for advertisements. Their work may end up on billboards, commercials, or packages.  $47,000 to $200,000. Work with film and digital media and be skilled in both. You don't have to go to college for this, you just have to be skilled.


Editorial Photography: Taking pictures pictures of newspapers and magazines. Helps you process the story in the articles. Mostly politics. Starting salary $25,000 to $55,000. You don't have to have a degree but it's recommended to have a high school diploma. 


Fashion Photography: Aims to represent fashion to the public. Creates pictures that will most likely be used in advertsiment. Skills work with models, make them feel comfortable, be able to work with bright lights, various back drops, and props. Education requirments: good eye, artistic ability, ability to set a mood, knowledge in photography, able to work with clients. Salary $50,000 to $100,000 or more. Steps: photographer, freelance photographer, photo editor, director of photography. Build up your portfolio for better pay. Travel a lot so you need to be comfortable with traveling around the world. You have to be a people person!


Photo Journalist: The main job is to provide pictures for stories or news articles corresponding with the topic. You'll need a bachelors degree. You would work at a printing or publication. Salary $15,000 to $50,000. This job has to be something you LOVE because you don't get paid that much.


APA: American Photographic Artist. A leading national organization run by and for photographers. Really great benefits, insurance, discounts on apple stores online, universal studios, builds your portfolio. There's a fee to join. Very helpful!


Sports Photography: Travels with sports teams. Takes pictures of actual sports events or players. They can work in a studio or on a actual field. Salary $24,000 and you can work your way up. You need a bachelors degree. 


PPA: Professional Photographers of America! Association that seeks to help their members get a promising career by opening them up to opportunities that they wouldn't have if they didn't have a membership. Their mission statement is to create a vibrate community of successful professional photographers by providing education.


NAPP: Nation Association of Photoshop Professionals (Users)! It's an organization that is in the photoshop buisness. It helps you with magazine and publications. They'll give you discounts if you use mac products. They're there to help you learn tricks and also step-by-step tutorials.


NPPA: National Press and Photographers Association. An organization where visual journalist trying to advance their career can go for help. Offer professional and student memberships. Publish in the news photographer magazine. Specific to photo journalism!
